SERVICES

CMAS AMERICAS is the newest Federation of the World Underwater Federation and was formed to provide a new approach to representing CMAS in North America and the Caribbean. Historically CMAS cards in the US have been issued through other agencies and this has been through an "equivalency" system where students never really were exposed to CMAS or to CMAS training. CMAS AMERICAS has changed all that by developing new Instructors who are dedicated to CMAS and to it's training standards.

Cards issued as "equivalencies look like the above cards. Cards issued by a Federation that actually trains CMAS look like the one below. Notice the hologram on the front of the card.

The cards have the Instructor's name and number on the reverse side as well as the Diver's name, certification number and picture. The dive center or dive schools name will also appear as appropriate.

CMAS AMERICAS offers Instructor Training Courses throughout this region and will also offer a limited number of Instructor Transition Courses to qualified Instructors from other agencies. Instructors certified by other agencies interested in becoming a qualified CMAS Instructor should contact the CMAS AMERICAS office.

CMAS certification cards are issued from the CMAS AMERICAS office here rather than issued from CMAS HQ in Italy. This decrease the processing time tremendously and provides CMAS AMERICAS Instructors, Dive Centers and Dive Schools the opportunity to offer true CMAS Courses.

REPLACEMENT CARDS

The procedure to replace a CMAS card depends on how you received it originally. We only process card replacements for people living in the CMAS AMERICAS territory.

If you were qualified by a CMAS AMERICAS Instructor you can complete the card replacement form ( see below) and submit it with the appropriate fee and photo.

Replacement Card from CMAS AMERICAS

If you were qualified by another CMAS Federation (outside the US) and now live in the CMAS AMERICAS territory and have evidence of the qualification. Such as the old card, certificate, or log book signed by your home federation you can follow the same procedure above and include a copy of the card or certificate. This will be veruified with your old Federation and new credentials will be issued upon confirmation.

Replacement card from Non CMAS AMERICAS Instructor

If you received your card as an equivalency from the YMCA you will have to call the YMCA Headquarters and request a letter of confirmation to send with the replacement card form above. Unfortunately, this is the route the YMCA has chosen rather than providing us with a list of those certified by the now defunct YMCA Scuba Program. Leadership members and Instructors must further complete a transition workshop to complete the orientation needed for them to qualify as CMAS Leaders and Instructors. They must complete and transition workshop request form and include copies of their "equivalency" card and their highest YMCA Card issued.
